They offer 2 types of car insurance – comprehensive or third party, fire and theft cover– so you can select cover to suit you.
The most complete cover. It covers fire, theft and damage to your own car as well as your legal liability for damage to other people’s vehicles or property. It also covers your legal liability for injury to others if you cause an accident.
Third party, fire and theft
If your car is stolen or damaged by fire or attempted theft, you’re covered. If your car is damaged in an accident, repairs to your car aren’t covered. If you cause the accident, the ‘third party’ part of this cover means your insurer would pay for the repairs and costs of the other vehicle(s) involved – not for yours. This cover includes your legal liability for injury to others if you cause an accident.
Comprehensive Car Insurance
Loss or damage to your vehicle – Cover if your vehicle is lost, damaged or stolen
Your liability – Cover if you injure someone or damage their property in an accident
Uninsured driver cover – If you’re in an accident with an uninsured driver that wasn’t your fault*
Vehicle recovery – Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy with roadside repairs, or cover up to £150 for accommodation or public transport
Driving other cars – Cover for driving someone else’s car (if you’re aged 25 or over)**
Legal costs – Cover for legal costs if you’re involved in an accident
Motor injury protection – Cover for you, your partner and named drivers for death or serious injury after a motor accident
Individual no claim discount – Earn a no claims discount on each vehicle you insure
Choose optional add-ons at an additional cost to create cover that suits you.
Breakdown cover – Roadside assistance, Recovery, At Home and Onward Travel to add to your car insurance
Protected no claims discount – Your premium won’t increase as a direct result of one claim when you renew
Motor legal – Help recovering your compensation and financial losses after a motor incident which wasn’t your fault
Courtesy car – Access to a replacement vehicle, with standard and enhanced options available
Foreign use – Cover driving in most European countries
Motor Injury Protection Plus – Injury cover and physiotherapy for you, your partner and any named drivers after a motor accident
What’s not covered
Unfortunately, we can’t cover everything – make sure you’re happy with what’s not covered, including:
Electrical breakdown – Including problems with the on-board computers – as well as electrical components
Tyres – Any punctures, cuts or bursts – including those caused by braking
Resale value – We can’t cover you for any loss in value of your car after repair
*You’ll need to provide us with details of the other vehicle and driver.
This only applies to comprehensive motor insurance.
**Only applies if the vehicle policyholder has Comprehensive cover, is aged 25 or over and the motor insurance certificate indicates that the vehicle policyholder can drive such a vehicle. The cover provided while driving other cars is Third Party only.
Making a claim with Aviva

You’ll need your policy number to start your claim.
Aviva will take a look at your claim and work out how best to help you.
They’ll review any photos or documents you’ve sent to them as part of your claim and ask you for details of anyone else involved.
They’ll get back to you as soon as they can to sort things out.
Depending on your cover, Aviva organise repairs to get you back on the road. Or work with you to settle your claim if your vehicle can’t be fixed.
