British Army players are currently preparing themselves for their next big event, the 2017 Army Lawn Tennis Association Indoor Tennis Tournament. The games will be held at their new venue, the Mountbatten Tennis Centre in Portsmouth, from Wednesday the 8th to Friday 10th February.
The Tournament will be played over 3 full days and will include a singles competition for both men and ladies. Entries are invited from all serving Regular and Reserve (TA) personnel together with retired veterans (Masters). Players of all standards are welcome, with full details available online at www.armytennis.org/alta-indoor-championships and applications open until 23rd January. The tournament’s aim is to encourage maximum participation across the Army, and also provides an opportunity for team captains to consider their respective squad selections for forthcoming fixtures.
Trinity have been loyal supporters of this event for many years, and our director, Vic Baker, attended the 2016 Tournament to present the players with their trophies.
We wish Army Tennis success this coming year!
Thinking about getting involved with Army Tennis?
AGC Tennis players come together and pit their skills and determination against the other Corps roughly every 2 weeks throughout the year as part of the summer and winter leagues. Apart from playing tennis, it is a great way to meet members of our disparate Corps whom you would not otherwise meet. It is not all about wearing pristine ‘tennis whites’ and eating cucumber sandwiches with crusts removed; there is a healthy amount of banter involved as well!
You can find out more at http://www.armytennis.org/. To keep up to date with Army Tennis, follow the association on Twitter at or like the page on Facebook.
