Christmas jumper day takes place on a specific Friday in December each year and this year lands today, on Friday 15th.

Global Children’s Charity Save the Children encourage people to take part, and ‘make the world better with a sweater’ by wearing a Christmas jumper and donating. The fundraising event was first launched in 2012 and sees schools and workplaces across the country taking part and donning festive knitwear whilst making donations to support the charity.

Teams of people who are getting involved can join the online Leader Board – this year a total of £84,250 has already been raised.

Christmas Jumper Day has also seen a host of celebrities take part and support the cause:

“There is nothing I love more than dressing my whole family up in Christmas jumpers,” said Fearne Cotton. “I really don’t shy away from over the top novelty designs! I love Christmas Jumper Day because it’s so simple to get involved and help raise money for those less fortunate all over the world.”

You can find out more about Christmas Jumper Day and donate online here, or get involved by texting MERRY to 70050 to donate £5.
