International Day of Charity

The 5th September is an integral day in the calendar as around the world people come together to celebrate and donate to charity. Here at Trinity Insurance Services we are strong supporters of SSAFA – the Armed Forces charity that helps people that are not only in the forces but after their service in their transition to civilian life.

Over the past year SSAFA have been involved in multiple exciting projects and fundraisers and have become partners with a number of reputable military organisations including the United Kingdom Armed Forces (UKAF) Rugby Union 2019-2020 season and the International Defence Rugby Competition. This is a key time for the team as the players are about to depart to Japan for the International Defence Rugby Competition, prior to the Remembrance matches that will be played in November this year.

SSAFA have also started the ‘Ride like a Pilot’ scheme. Starting on 5th September 2019, four members of the UK Royal Air Force Cycling Association will conduct a 1900-mile (3050 km) ride, raising money for SSAFA. They will be wearing Everysight Raptor smart glasses throughout the journey. A spin-off from Elbit Systems, Everysight Raptor glasses are designed for cycling and use Augmented Reality (AR) technology developed by Elbit for fighter jet helmet-mounted display systems including the RAF Lightning II. Sponsored by Elbit Systems UK and in conjunction with the RAF Cycling Association, the “Ride Like a Pilot” project will give the cyclists the latest cutting edge-technology while raising money for a cause close to their hearts.

SSAFA have continued to help those still serving as well as ex-servicemen who are suffering fro PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) after time on operations. Its friendly and helpful staff is really making a difference to the armed forces community and will continue to do so.
