This month the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo will be taking place from Monday to Saturday in the evening from the 3rd to the 25th.
The tattoo is a global gathering of various regiments from around the world. Performers from some 48 countries have taken part since the first in 1950.
An annual television coverage of over 100 million watches the performance worldwide each year.
The Tattoo has always been staged at Edinburgh Castle. Rehearsals take place at Redford Barracks in Edinburgh.
The word ‘tattoo’ comes from the closing-time cry in the inns in the Low Countries during the 17th and 18th centuries – ‘Doe den tap toe’ (‘Turn off the taps’).
Good luck to all regiments taking part in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo this year, especially our Trinity members.
